Energy Transition Strategies Summit
Thank you for joining us at FT Energy Transition Strategies Summit 2021.
Mapping energy’s unstoppable transformation
A major shift is underway in global energy markets, with the pace and scale of the energy transition now outstripping even the most optimistic projections. In a race to tackle climate change, dozens of the world’s biggest economies have adopted targets for net zero emissions by 2050 and are cutting fossil fuels and boosting clean energies. Investors are ploughing big money into technologies including hydrogen, carbon capture and long-duration storage that are considered necessary to do the ‘heavy lifting’ for the next stage of the transition. Meanwhile, carbon prices are soaring, and energy companies are recalibrating their strategies and business models for a net zero world with a new sense of urgency.
This digital FT Energy Transition Strategies Summit explored the next big challenges in the energy transition, and how the forces of competition, consolidation and convergence will reshape energy markets in the years ahead. FT journalists, policy makers and industry professionals considered the role for fossil fuels in a net zero economy, the challenges of scaling energy innovation, and the next wave of power system transformation in a series of insightful panel discussions and keynote interviews.
Join us again at Energy Transition Summit 2022 as we bring together industry leaders, governments and investors to share actionable advice and debate how the industry can rise to the challenge and deliver secure, affordable and clean energy. For its ninth edition the event will feature a half day of digital content, followed by two days of in-person discussions, networking and exclusive roundtables.

Hydrogen, fourth time lucky?
There's a huge amount of noise around hydrogen and numerous pilots but these waves of enthusiasm have been and gone before. How to overcome the high costs? And some opponents still raise safety concerns around basing energy systems on hydrogen. Our panel of experts discussed during the 2020 digital edition of the FT Energy Transition Strategies Summit.
